Abstract:

Aims Glucantime has been considered as a drug of choice for treating cutaneous leishmaniasis for many years. In the recent years, resistance to Glucantime has been increasingly reported in some regions of Iran. In the Leishmania, Arsenate/Antimony reductase acts on the basis of thiol metabolism; it can donate the electron from reduced glutaredoxin to pentavalent (sbV) antimony and arsenate and reduce them to trivalent (sbIII) antimony and arsenite, based on its enzymatic property. It has been assumed that a functional mutation in the enzyme can result in drug resistance. In the present study, the role of Sb (V)-As (V) reductase of Leishmania tropica in drug resistant to glucantime was investigated. Materials & Methods In the present experimental research, 15 glucantime sensitive samples and 15 glucantime resistant specimens were collected from different regions of Iran through patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis. For mutation detection, first degenerate primers were designed; then, sequencing and simulation techniques were used based on molecular dynamics method. Findings In Leishmania tropica-resistant isolates, only one mutation was seen as replacing alanine (Ala) at position 80 instead of valine (Val). The analysis of the radius of gyration did not reveal any increase in the radius of gyration while simulation. Conclusion Mutations in glucantime-resistant isolates did not significantly change simulated active site of antimony ion.

Abstract:

A novel series of antimony (V) complexes with the hydroxypyranone and hydroxypyridinone ligands were synthesized and characterized by 1HNMR, FT-IR and electron spin ionization mass spectroscopic (ESI-MS) techniques. The synthesis process involved protection of hydroxyl group followed by the reaction of the intermediate with primary amines and finally deprotection. All compounds were evaluated for in vitro activities against the amastigote and promastigote forms of Leishmania major. Most of the synthesized compounds exhibited good antileishmanial activity against both forms of L. major. IC50 values of the most active compounds; 9d, 9d and 9e, after 24, 48 and 72 h against amastigote model were 15, 12. 5 and 5. 5 μ g/mL, respectively. 9e, 11 and 9e inhibited the promastigote form of parasite after 24, 48 and 72 h with IC50 values of 10, 2 and 1 μ g/mL, respectively.

Abstract:

Persistent photoconductivity (ppc) has been investigated in detail in a bulk CdTe (Sb) Semiconductor. The relaxation of ppc in CdTe (Sb) is found to follow a power_law, Ippc (t)=t –a, in temperature region 110K< T<295 K, The parameter a as a function of temperature is obtaind. However, the ppc is observed only above 90K, that is contrast to previous reported results on most materials which exhibit PPC effects predominantly at low temperatures. Apossible mechanism is the presence of random local potential fluctuations in the sample, which strongly influence the carrier transport properties. Such fluctuations could be induced either by the compositional fluctuations or the impurity potential.

Abstract:

This article presents the novel set termed SB-neutrosophic set (SB-NSS), which extends the concept of the Neutrosophic set (NSS). We illustrate its fundamental operations with examples. This concept of SB-NSSs is applied to BCK/BCI-algebras, and we introduce the notion of SB-neutrosophic subalgebra (SB-NSSA), SB-neutrosophic ideal (SB-NSI), and related properties are investigated. Furthermore, we provide conditions for an SB-NSS to be an SB-NSSA, for an SB-NSS to be an SB-NSI, and for an SB-NSSA to be an SB-NSI. In a BCI-algebra, conditions for an SB-NSI to be an SB-NSSA are given.

Abstract:

MANY FACTORIES, SUCH AS COAL CONVERSION, PETROLEUM REFINING, IRON AND STEEL, TEXTILES, DYES, RESINS, PLASTICS AND AGROCHEMICALS, DISCHARGE WASTEWATER CONTAINING PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS.THESE COMPOUNDS ARE HARMFUL TO HUMAN HEALTH, AND SUSPECTED TO BE CARCINOGENIC [1]. MANY TECHNIQUES INCLUDING PHYSICAL ADSORPTION [2], ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDATION, BIODEGRADATION, CATALYTIC WET OXIDATION, AND FENTON REAGENT OXIDATION HAVE BEEN ADOPTED FOR THE REMOVAL OF PHENOLIC POLLUTANTS. THOUGH PRACTICABLE AND EFFECTIVE THESE METHODS ARE, THEY ALSO HAVE SOME DRAWBACKS, SUCH AS HIGH COST, INCOMPLETE REMOVAL, AND MORE TOXIC BYPRODUCTS THAN ORIGINAL POLLUTANTS [3]. IN VIEW OF SOLAR ENERGY UTILIZATION, THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEMICONDUCTOR PHOTOCATALYSTS FOR ORGANIC POLLUTANT DEGRADATION AND WATER SPLITTING IS A CHALLENGING AND INDISPENSABLE TOPIC OF MODERN RESEARCH [4]. IN THIS STUDY, SB/TIO2-FE3O4 NANOCATALYST WERE SUCCESSFULLY SYNTHESIZED AND CHARACTERIZED BY SEM, XRD, TEM AND USED TO REMOVE PHENOLS FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION. IN THIS WORK THE INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT PARAMETERS LIKE TEMPERATURE, PH, REACTION TIME, INITIAL PHENOLS AND SB CONCENTRATIONS WERE EXAMINED. RESULTS SHOW THAT THE DECREASE IN PH INCREASES THE REMOVAL EFFICIENCY. SO THAT IN PH=3 OVER 65% REMOVAL AND IN PH=11 ABOUT 51.5% REMOVAL IS OBSERVED. REMOVAL OF PHENOLS ELEVATED OVER TIME.DEGRADATION RATE WAS INCREASED BY REDUCING THE INITIAL CONCENTRATION OF PHENOLS. PHENOLS COULD BE REMOVED COMPLETELY USING 5% SB-DOPED AFTER 6 H OF REACTION AT 318 K. GENERALLY, WE CAN CONCLUDE THAT PHENOLS COULD BE ELIMINATED COMPLETELY UNDER OPTIMIZED CONDITIONS.

Abstract:

In the present study, Ti/SnO2-Sb/NSGCN-PbO2 electrode was fabricated by electrodeposition technique. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) coupled to an energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), linear scanning voltammetry (LSV), cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronopotentiometry (CP) and chronoamperometry (CA) analyzes were used to examine the surface morphology, the elemental composition analysis and electrochemical properties of the electrode. The findings showed that the Ti/SnO2-Sb/NSGCN-PbO2 electrode has a finer particles, a more compact and uniform structure, a higher potential for oxygen evolution, a smaller charge transfer resistance, a good current density and a more desirable electrode stability. In this study, the Ti/SnO2-Sb/NSGCN-PbO2 electrode performance in ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal was investigated. Electrochemical removal of CIP was done via anodic oxidation method by using generate hydroxyl radical (OH֯) on the anode surface. The removal efficiency of ciprofloxacin in 240 minutes at pH=6.8 and ambient temperature was 44.3%.Furthermore the amount of energy consumed was 0.368 kWh m-3. According to the obtained results Ti/SnO2-Sb/NSGCN-PbO2 anode performs better than Ti/SnO2-Sb/PbO2, Ti/PbO2 and Ti/SnO2-Sb in removing Ciprofloxacin and energy consumption.

Abstract:

In this paper is introduced a new type of generalization of metric spaces called Sb metric space. For this new kind of spaces it has been proved a common fixed point theorem for four mappings which satisfy generalized contractive condition. We also present example to confirm our theorem.
